"Velocity of Money"
1) The economy's fall has much to do with the uproar in the movement and function of the people of America.
2) People in authority, such as the president, city hall, etc., have refrained from resorting to books and such for knowledge on how to fix the fall in economy, resulting in a bigger stress on the economy's existance.
3) Lee Berton describes the velocity of money is "whistling through windows" as a way to say that money in the economy is there one second, and gone the next.
4) Lee Berton means to say the American people won't slow down and give the economy time to fix itself, instead they are "running after the rising dollar" and adjust to the high prices of the economy.
5) By saying he was always a communist, Berton may be saying the communist way is much more proficient than the traditional American ways.
6) When he sayed "useless gold", Berton may have meant that even the most expensive good in America is useless at this point in the economy.
break down example:
The line stating "books thicker & dumber" is a contradictory statement. Usually thick books are considered to be full of facts and theories, so for them to be getting dumber the thicker they get is very unusual.
